| 1683Penn was fair with
       the original occupants
of his land (the various Indian tribes). As he brought settlers, he set aside areas for the Indians. Springfield land had members of the Secane Indian Tribe. Francis (age 28) and Philip (age 19) settled on 100 acres of land in Springfield.
Penn would give 50 acres to anyone who would clear 10 acres and build a home on it. I first thought the Yarnall brothers were given their land by Penn under this arrangement. I discovered they bought their parcels from previous owners who were investors; not settlers. NOTE: As a boy age 12 to 18, I was walking and riding my bicycle on this land when our family lived in Springfield. I had no knowledge of this when it was happening in 1944 to 1950. The Yarnall brothers later sold their Springfield land and bought land in Edgmont (Philip) and Willistown (Francis).
I traced my ancestral path to Philip.
 1687
On January 6th Philip (age 22) bought his first 280
acres in Edgmont from Robert Toomer through George Maris of Springfield.
Three months later Philip bought 200 more acres in Edgmont from Toomer.
Philip was one of 14 early landowners in Edgmont. Maris owned a parcel
of land between the two Philip Yarnall parcels. Philip's first land deal
required him to pay 8 pounds to Jacob Simcock and 9 pounds 10 shillings
to John Mendenhall for it. Although he was buying it from Robert Toomer through
George Maris, he paid those men instead. Maybe Philip was settling some of George's debts in these transactions. Maris was the one who sold
the Springfield land to Philip's brother, Francis, in 1683. Maris had purchased
that land from Toomer before he sold it to Francis. George Maris came to America on the "Bristol Comfort" with the Yarnall brothers. Maybe they played some poker on the trip and deals were developed.
 1694
Philip bought 150 acres from John Bristow and/or William Lewis. He was becoming a land tycoon by the time he got married
at age 29 in April of 1694.
 1696
On September 8th Philip sold 120 of his 280 acres to Ephraim Jackson.
A map of Edgmont around the change of the century shows Philip also sold
100 of his 200 acre parcel in 1691 to Thomas Worrilow and the other 100
acres to John Golding in 1696. At that time his second child was about to arrive.
 1697
Francis purchased 500 acres in Willistown.
I found a map that shows who purchased land in Willistown.
 1776
