Andrews Avenue Details
Ruth

I think this was the first house for the Ruth and Vincent Cheverelli family. It was much nicer when they lived there as can be seen in the Easter picture of Polly and her sister Carolyn. The aerial picture with the yellow arrow shows concrete instead of a grassy front lawn. See aerial picture at left.

Ruth and Vincent were married June 28, 1930 so this was not where they lived on the 1930 census days. His was on May 6, 1930. Her date was April 12, 1930. They were in Philadelphia. Ruth lived with her sister Louise and her aunt Anna. Vincent lived with his father and step mother and their children on Frankford Avenue.

I could only take a picture of the front door (white) of 7425 Andrews Avenue in 2012 because of an overgrown tree. See the picture on the right.

A full picture of the front of the house was taken in 1993 by our daughter, Louise. Her pictures are shown below. From the Cheverelli days to 1993 the property was not well maintained and it got worse after that.

A receipt book of 9 pages was in the keepsakes of Vincent and Ruth Cheverelli. It was the installment loan record for their mortgage on the house they purchased on Andrews Avenue in 1933. The loan was for $3,200 (see top of page on right).

The principal payment was $16.00 each month. The interest payment each month started at $15.92 for the November 1933 payment and decreased each month. You can see on the page on the right that the interest was only $6.27 for the August 1942 payment.

The mortgage was held by the Prudential Insurance Company.

The due dates for the payments seem to be the first of the month, yet the payments were recorded as being made on dates later than that. They had reduced the balance of the loan to $1,488 by the time they moved from 7425 Andrews Avenue in Philadelphia, PA to 519 Plymouth Road in Glenside, PA.
