We sang these songs often with our mother teaching us the words.

Silent Night
Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and Child.
Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight;
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heav’nly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light;
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.
Silent night, holy night
Wondrous star, lend thy light;
With the angels let us sing,
Alleluia to our King;
Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born!

Away in a Manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head;
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the Baby awakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes;
I love Thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray;
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for Heaven to live with Thee there.
Bob shared a bedroom with me when we lived with our grandparents at the 126 Berkley "Street" house. It was a small room and had a great homemade two-level bunkbed in it. Uncle Scott made the bed with our dad's help. We would climb it and wrestle in it. We were confined to it when we shared the chicken pox and measles. In 1941 our mother had us ready to enjoy Halloween in neat costumes as we went door-to-door together for treats and we rode our bikes together. Bob was my sidekick. Our mother got three of her children to enjoy fishing too.
High School
Bob graduated from Springfield High School in Springfield, PA in 1955. He was an outstanding athlete and was not that interested in the curriculum.
