| Artistic Items Her artistic talent was fantastic. She did six very nice ceramics, a striking wood carving, and three beautiful paintings. View them She also designed some of our Christmas cards that we sent to our friends. Trips and Vacations She planned our activities to maximize our fun. Rainier Investments She did a large amount of research on the Internet to track the performance of various stocks. She did fairly well overall. There were a couple of big losses as a result of some poorly managed companies like WorldCom. Sometimes she entered the local newspaper's stock market contest. One year she was up in the top tier and we kept a copy of the article showing her as being in fifth place out of thousands of contestants.
When our children were at home, Polly was the loving and supportive homemaker. Tom was the bread-winner and disciplinarian. On one occasion Brad had a job delivering pizzas for Dominoes. He had been caught speeding twice the same day and Polly wanted the "man of the house" to talk with their son. Since Tom's record was significantly blemished with about two dozen speeding tickets over nearly 30 years of driving, Tom felt a bit awkward when given this assignment. He gave it his best shot, but Polly was not real happy when she overheard him say to our son, "Look you must learn to control your speed. You must be more aware of the speed limit. Getting 2 speeding tickets in one day is not good because I still hold the record. I got 3 in one day." Tom survived, but it was not a happy time at the 148 Weston Drive house that evening. Activities She played bridge (duplicate like her dad), she played the piano a little bit, and was very busy with our gardening. She also put in a lot of time on the computer especially doing her crossword puzzles. She also used the computer to reconcile our checkbook, do stock market research, and exchange email with friends and relatives.
