First Five Generations
Worcestershire
This interesting and unusual name of Ye arnold with subsequent variant spelling of Yarnell and Yarnall is thought to be a dialect variant of "Arnold", which itself
  • 1- It may have originated from the Normans.
  • 2- It could have been a personal name composed of the Germanic elements "arn" meaning eagle plus "wald" meaning rule.
  • 3- It may have originated as a habitational name (places where people lived) like "earn", eagle, and "hald", hollow.

  • After looking at ancient wills, we believe three individuals named John, Thomas, and Richard are brothers. They are currently the furthest generation back that we have been able to trace.
