| For Christmas
Day dinner |
We dined with those
dear, |
| I'd set aside records |
updated that year. |
| |
|
| Tell stories of our folks |
who'd set out a plate. |
| Oh my how we loved them. |
Their dinners were great. |
| |
|
| I mentioned far places |
where kinfolk were born. |
| Cite towns with strange titles |
abandoned or worn. |
| |
|
| Cause all of our children |
were hard to impress, |
| I'd sit as I pondered |
that day without stress. |
| |
|
| What clues can be given? |
What hints to remind? |
| So we won't be old folks |
our offspring can't find. |
