The Palm house in Paxtang, PA had brick vertical supports for their porch. Here (on a front porch with stone vertical supports) is my mother (age 10) with her mother (age 40) and her sister Sarah (age 19) in 1924. This was at the Palm home in Yeadon, Pa.

Aunt Sarah had polio as a child. It might have influenced her choice of occupation. She went to nursing school in Allentown, PA after she graduated from high school. Later she became the director of a nursing school at Grasslands Memorial Hospital in Vahalla, NY. Sarah died in 1979 at the age of 74.

My grandmother Palm died in 1930 at the age of 46.
