1930 Census
Palm

The Palm family is listed on page 15A for enumeration district 23-178 for Yeadon Boro in Delaware County, PA. This census was taken on April 26, 1930 by Elizabeth Glass. My grandfather was employed by the telephone company as an engineer.

The street number looks like 574 or 571, but it really was 514. This is part of the Laurel Road listings.
Samuel is the head of the household age 47.
Florence is the wife-H (for homemaker) age 45.
Samuel is a son living in the household at age 21.
My mother is listed as Mary E (the census taker probably heard "Louise" as an "E" - say it out loud) age 15.
"O" in column 7 meant the home was either mortgaged or owned and $8,500 in column 8 was the value of the home.
"R" in column 9 indicated the home had a radio.
Column 10 indicates they did not live on farm.
Notice in column 15 what age Sam and Florence were when they got married.
Column 17 indicates all could read and write.
Only son Sam had a birthday prior to the date of the census in 1930.
