My manager was not located in Pittsburgh. He was in Johnstown. We had an office there. The territory was even smaller - primarily 2 counties in western Pennsylvania.

The IBM office in Virginia was looking for sales reps with success with banks and a friend from my training class suggested that I be considered. I got the chance to get out of poor old Altoona, Pennsylvania.
