Robert Baker of England had two sons and three
daughters who set out for America in 1684. The two
sons John and Joseph were joined by wives
Dorothy and Mary on that trip. Dorothy died on the trip.
Robert's three daughters Hannah,
Sarah, and Mary bought 200 acres with Roger Jackson from William Smith
in 1684 after they arrived in America. Hannah married
Francis Yarnall. Sarah married Charles Whitacre.
Mary married William Coebourn.
Joseph bought 500 acres from Richard Marsh. He represented
the County in the Provincial Assembly. He died in 1716. His brother John
with his four daughters was believed to have lived briefly with Joseph on that
land. John died in Philadelphia in 1685 just one
year after arriving in America.
One of the four daughters of John and Dorothy was
named Dorothy. She married Philip Yarnall on April 20, 1694 in the Springfield
Friends Meeting House and they had ten children. I believe our line can be traced
to one of their seven sons, Thomas, who was born June
10, 1705. He married Martha Hammans.
