Lineage Clues Before Civil War After Civil War Near the End

William H. Yarnall - Gap in Ancestral Line
No Records of Parents
His Civil War card on file in the Media, PA Court House has blanks where the names of his parents should be. His marriage record in a book at the St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Ivy Mills section of Aston Township, PA does not list any parent's names. Only the names of witnesses are shown. His death certificate requested from the state of Pennsylvania for 1909 and 1910 was not available. I had no success with any school and work records. There was nothing in the Friends Meeting records at Swarthmore College or at Haverford College. There was no male under age five indicated in any 1840 census for potentially relevant Yarnall families in Edgmont, Middletown or Aston. Maybe he was born after the 1840 census. Later census entries for William H indicate his father and mother were born in Pennsylvania.
Who Was His Mother?
My options are that Agnes had him in her home because he was born to Agnes' unwed daughter Ruth in 1840 or he had to be cared for after Agnes' unwed niece Eliza died in April of 1843. Here are two ways I have shown the options:

Did Agnes Yarnall Webster Ever Tell Him?
My great-grandfather may never have been told much about his parents. Maybe William H never knew who they were. Agnes Yarnall Webster died 4/16/1868 when she was just 7 weeks shy of her 87th birthday. She was still living at the Webster home in Middletown, PA where she had taken in William H prior to 1850. William H was almost 28 when she died.
