Mill Housing
Yarnall World | Hollow Hill
An old photo shows the back of the housing that was provided for the mill employees' families like my grandfather's. Pause your cursor on any of the four upper right windows.

The big building in the photo had four family horizontal units in it. A center entry area (other side of building) was how one entered the two units on the first floor and a stairway led to two units on the second floor. Each row of four windows are the back of a unit. Large chimneys indicate each unit had a fireplace. Each housing unit had an iron wood burning stove for cooking.

The photo was taken from the far side of Chester Creek near the Yorkshire Dam looking up toward the homes. The Yorkshire Dam was washed away in a flood in 1971.

Paul died in January 2015. He was so helpful with the old maps of Aston. I took him to lunch a few times to thank him.
A great guy, Paul Dougherty, (shown in the picture on the left in a white shirt) was the person who established the Aston Historical Society in 1993.

He explained that the Yorkshire Mill closed in 1964 and its buildings were used in 2000 by the Container Research Company.

In 2000 Paul provided me with the photo of my dad's boyhood home (shown above).
