Section Where We Were Located in Altoona |
Columbia Park was a ballpark for the 1884 baseball team named the Altoona Mountain City. The ballpark was also called the 4th Avenue Grounds and Waverly Field. Other teams that played there were called the Altoona Unions and the Altoona Pride. The Mountain City team lasted only six weeks in the Union Association League. The team was replaced by the Kansas City Cowboys. The ballpark name is the basis for the name given to that section of Altoona.
