In 628 the Saxons lost their dominance of Mercia. It is clear from the subsequent history of the area that Penda (an Angle) defeated the Saxons. | The above map shows that the Mercia Kingdom replaced the Hwicce Kingdom. Both were Anglo-Saxon kingdoms at one time. Next came the Vikings who were comprised of people from Denmark and Scandinavia. | The above map shows territories after the Danish (aka Norse) invasion. We do not have any documentation to show if the Yarnall ancestors were in England during the Celtic tribal times. We do not know when the first Yarnall ancestors came to England. Did they come with the Romans, the Saxons, the Angles, the Vikings, or the Normans? |
